Biography

Dr. Arif Khan is a British Board certified Consultant Pediatric Neurologist. He is a British national and has completed his General Pediatric and Pediatric neurology training in the UK. Dr. Khan graduated from Karnataka University, India in 1998. He completed his postgraduate training in Pediatrics from Rajiv Gandhi University of health sciences in Karnataka, India in 2002. He moved to the UK and completed 10 years of comprehensive training in Pediatric Neurology, General Pediatrics and Neonatology as a resident and as a senior registrar in various hospitals in the United Kingdom. His training in Pediatric neurology included assignments as a senior registrar in three major tertiary University hospitals, namely Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, University Hospitals of Leicester and then the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. He was awarded CCT (Completion of certified training) in Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurology by the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health in 2012. Prior to joining ACPN, Dr. Khan had been working as a consultant Pediatric Neurologist at the University Hospitals of Leicester and has been the lead clinician for complex epilepsies, vagal nerve stimulation service and ketogenic diet in the region. He also had his practice at the Nuffield Hospital in Leicester and offered visiting consultations to Medcare Hospital, Dubai. He is an avid writer, authoring more than 40 peer-reviewed and public health publications. He has presented numerous posters at national and international meetings. He is currently in the process of co-authoring a book on Pediatric Neurology and one on pediatrics for medical students. He has been a lecturer for medical students at the University Hospitals of Leicester and has been teaching on the National training courses like the Pediatric Epilepsy training courses. His professional memberships include fellowship of the royal college of pediatrics and child health, core member of the European pediatric neurology society and member of the British Pediatric Neurology Association. Dr. Khan has moved to UAE in his capacity as the Head of Pediatric neurology division at ACPN, Dubai. He has extensive experience in the management of various childhood neurological conditions like Complex epilepsies, Headaches, Migraines, movement disorders, developmental impairments, Autism, ADHD, spasticity and sleep disorders.
